Social media users are not impressed with Kabelo Mabalane’s statement, pointing out the fact that he openly admitted to being an abuser himself.
Mabelane and his wife Gail Mabalane, launched the campaign with several other stars last week.
#NoExcuse is an initiative he started in partnership with Carling Black Label to end this worrisome act of violence between couples, referred to as Intimate Partner Violence (IPV).
The initiative wants wedding vows to be re-written and to include the promise to never abuse your partner in anyway, shape or form.
He then took to social media to make a confession on the eve of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.
“Last week we launched #NoExcuse.A campaign that vehemently condemns intimate partner violence. As a young man I too was a perpetrator of this shameful cowardly behaviour. The shame and the embarrassment made me shy away from these spaces and I’ve since learned that as important as it is to take full responsibility for this reprehensible unacceptable behaviour, I am also now at a place where I appreciate the importance of lending my voice to fighting this pandemic,” he wrote on Instagram.
Tweeter users weighed in on the Kabelo Mabalane’s revelation.
Such posts make it seem like the perpetrators are the victims in all of this.
Y’all beat women and children then talk about “hope” and “healing” for yourselves? Niyahlanya?
What about your victims? What about their hope and healing? https://t.co/WRwfRJYTmO

Please don’t take me out of context…
I see people upset that Kabelo strtd a GBV campaign, I’m confused did people want him to stay an abuser and not change his ways and inspire other men to change their ways? Or was he supposed to stay silent and pretend nothing ever happened

Kabelo Mabalane beat up a woman so badly she’s now partial deaf for the rest of her life…the animal is out here giving speeches on GBV, this country is a circus

Penny is being dishonest. There’s generally zero accountability for perpetrators of GBV so why on earth would you even think this is Kabelo taking accountability for what he did to Noni? Accountability is not being made the face of anti-GBV. It does NOTHING for victims.
