Rapper Iggy Azalea has come under fire for allegedly altering her skin tone to make herself look darker than she actually is.
The ‘Team’ hitmaker has been accused of blackfishing – a term used to describe people who change their looks to appear ethnically black.
Rachel Dolezal, anyone?
Iggy caused an online storm when she dropped the visuals for her latest song, ‘I Am The Strip Club’.
Scores of viewers said she looked unrecognisable in one scene from the video. She is wearing a striped Jean-Paul Gaultier outfit in the clip.
“You coulda gave me 8,000 tries to guess who this was for $1 million dollars and I would’ve never guessed Iggy Azalea,” one Twitter user wrote.

Iggy claps back
Iggy dismissed the accusations in several tweets. She says her darker appearance is due to the lighting used in the club scene.
“I can’t care about something that ridiculous and baseless. I’m wearing a shade 6 in Armani foundation, it’s the same shade I’ve worn for the last 3 years. It’s the same shade in every music video since Sally Walker. Suddenly I wear a black wig in a club scene & it’s an issue,” she tweeted.

Iggy added that everyone in the club scene looks darker than they actually are. Twitter users had mixed reactions to the ‘blackfishing’ claims.
The whole “iggy is black fishing” is so dumb and y’all overdoing and misusing words. She doesn’t look black at all. She look like a tanned white woman in a dark lighting. I’m on @IGGYAZALEA side with this one.

Despite the drama, Iggy’s new music video has been a major hit online. It’s been watched more than 3.8-million times since its debut last week.
