A South African man has left social media divided after he had his car kitted out with boastful messages of his celebrations after finalising his divorce.
The man who successfully kept the car during the divorce settlement, had not-so-kind words written on the car about his former spouse and how overjoyed he was that it was finally over.
Top phrases posted in the vehicle:
“Whoever said money can’t buy happiness… never paid for a divorce before.”
“Happy Days on the way!!!”
“…Marriage Over… Party Started 12.04.2021. I kept the car…”
Social media users have responded to the images, sharing their own experiences of what they went through during their divorce.
Some went as far as explaining why he may have had such an outlandish way of celebrating his newfound “freedom”
““Who ever said money can’t buy happiness… Ain’t never paid for a divorce before” # “Proud Wasband””
“There is an inner child that is crying so bad,, and he trying to convince himself that he is now happy, noooo, that man is hurting bad.”
“Legend. He is the best of the best. Please stop judging . Some women that cheats on their hardworking husbands deserves this if the divorce takes years to settle and men as well . Im going through a divorce for 7 years and as soon as it is settled i will have my wedding dress burned and have a photoshoot about it …”
“No good relationship end with divorce. People get together in a relationship for wrong reasons. Love and appreciation should come first. You can’t choose who to love. Love is blind.”
“If only he learnt to pick up after himself and did the dishes from time to time he wouldn’t be doing this. Compromise people! Take your shower. Chew quietly.”
5 effects of divorce that people don’t talk about
Bestlifeonline.com spoke to relationship coaches, divorce lawyers, couples counselors, and more to find out what really goes on when a marriage ends. Here’s what you need to know will happen after the divorce:
The grieving process
Your mindset matters, believe it or not, no matter how it all ended, there is still a big part of your life that is changing and with the changes comes deep emotions that need serious attention. Grieving the loss of the relationship or spouse is a major part of the process.
The settlement process
This is usually where it gets deep, where belongings need to be shared equally. Couples are encouraged to remove all emotions when negotiating the settlements.
It’ll take forever to have a clean break
Though this is officially the end, there will still be constant reminders of your ex. It takes forever to untangle yourself from your spouse, think about all the tax documents, car registrations, changing your name.
You’ll lose some friends
Remember those friends you’d hang out with together? It will be a little awkward to hang out with them, you’ll probably lose a few friendships and if you’re lucky you might make new ones.
You’ll miss the kids from time to time
In most instances, healthy divorces usually opt for joint custody. The thing that they don’t tell you is that there will be times where you will miss your kids as they will be with their other parent. Be prepared for those moments.
