There is nothing as peaceful as sitting in your well-manicured garden after a long day at work with a cup of your chosen beverage and reading material. In this environment, you can relax and enjoy the summer breeze. In the interest of spreading this simple joy life has to offer, here are few ways you can enjoy your garden more through keeping it immaculate. Let’s start with your lawn, a perfect place for budget saving picnics and every homeowner’s pride and joy.
Feed your lawn
Like all living organisms, lawns need water for them to keep looking great. The best time to water your lawn is early in the morning between 4 a.m and10 a.m. Make sure you water long enough to moisten the soil to about 15 centimeters down, which is the depth of a healthy grass root system.
Tip: grey water (used to bath, dish, car wash and other chores) is the best water to use to water your garden.

Give it a manicure
Mowing your lawn regularly will keep it from not having dry, hideous patches. Make sure you only remove one-third of the grass and that your blades are sharp.

Your garden
The next most important part of the garden has to be the plant you give life, not every plant will work for your garden, spend time understanding which one to avoid planting.

Plant veggies and herbs.
If you have some space and want the therapeutic satisfaction of watching something grow here are some plants you can grow and eat. Sow beans, beetroot, carrots, sweet corn, radish, spinach, tomatoes, chilies, basil, lettuce, celery, and parsley.
By growing your own food, you know exactly what goes from soil to the plate.

Mind the weeds and pests
Remember to avoid having to kill pest before they arise, they too want to eat your precious food and flowers. You can do this by removing fallen fruit to discourage pests breeding in them. Weeds compete with plants and grass for water, watering requirements can be cut down to 50% and weeds are smothered and discouraged if you keep them out of your garden.
- Spray roses against black spot, fungus, and bugs.
- Watch out for hawk moth caterpillars feeding at night and make sure you control lawn caterpillar infestations.
A lovely garden requires a lot of time but with the right care, it can be very rewarding. One thing is for sure, gardening is indeed food for the soul and it can be completely meditative.
