Luxury, speed and style collide at Kaya 959 & Chivas Regal’s exclusive F1 Sprint Race Watch Party

The second leg of Kaya 959’s trade event collaboration with Chivas Regal took shape as an exclusive F1 Qatar Sprint Race Watch Party in Cape Town on Saturday, 29 November 2025.

The event spotlighted the dynamic partnership between Chivas Regal and Kaya 959, a collaboration that celebrates modern cultural leadership by blending global luxury with the urban, multi-cultural spirit captured in Kaya’s “On The Street, On The Air” identity.

Set against the picturesque backdrop of NASDAK’s luxury rooftop venue, guests enjoyed 360° views of the Cape Town skyline, creating the perfect setting for the live screening of the electrifying F1 Qatar Sprint Race, courtesy of Kaya 959, Chivas Regal and Scuderia Ferrari.

Hosted by digital creator Nandipha Mqoco, the evening welcomed Cape Town’s A-list crowd, influencers, fashionistas, and key clients, with Kaya 959’s DJ Ed Soul setting the tone from behind the decks.

Following the sprint race, the unveiling of Thebe Magugu’s striking six-piece capsule collection in collaboration with Chivas Regal became a standout moment. Models emerged onto the veranda against the backdrop of Table Mountain, giving guests an intimate first look at the collection.

Introducing the range, renowned designer Thebe Magugu reflected on the cultural significance of fashion, noting that while cultures face the risk of being forgotten, they are immortalised through cloth.

“Chivas gave me quite a difficult task,” he said.

“Creating a six-piece capsule collection that merges my motifs with theirs under the lens of Formula 1 was a tricky balance, but I think we achieved it. Chivas is a Scottish brand, and in fashion terms, I look at their textiles and crests, nothing is random. Each stripe and weave carries meaning. On my side, I used the motif of a shield because my name, Thebe, means shield in Nguni, and my surname, Magugu, means treasures. I’ve always felt my name embodies ‘he who protects our treasures.’”

“It’s a blend of Chivas’ Scottish motifs and my African motifs, all viewed through the world of Formula 1. It’s really about modernising heritage, something you’ll see across my latest work,” he added.

Whisky, cocktails and fashion defined the day, with Mqoco surprising guests by unveiling the new GH Mumm Ice Extra, prompting a celebratory toast as the crowd rose to their feet.

Chivas Marketing Activations Manager, Kamo Mvunyiswa, explained the brand’s vision and said, “Essentially, we’re working to modernise the brand and bring it closer to the consumer. A key part of that is partnering with the right cultural platforms.”

“Fashion is in our DNA. Our partnership with Thebe Magugu, combined with Formula 1, particularly Ferrari, reflects the expression we’re bringing to consumers over the next 12 months. Stay tuned for the content and looks we’ll be dropping with Thebe, along with exciting Ferrari-aligned releases,” he continued.

“We’re having a great time tonight. Everything showcased here will live across social and digital platforms, and we hope consumers enjoy what’s coming,” Mvunyiswa added.

As the night drew to a close, it was clear that the Kaya 959 and Chivas Regal collaboration is shaping a new lane where culture, luxury, and innovation meet.

The watch party proved to be more than an event; it was a celebration of heritage, creativity, and modern cultural influence.

Kaya 959 and Chivas Regal once again demonstrated their ability to bring people together in unforgettable ways, leaving guests inspired, connected, and eagerly anticipating what comes next.
