Zodwa Wabantu has been banned from performing in Malawi due to the provocative nature of her on-stage antics.
The Malawian Government has ordered security agencies to prohibit Zodwa from entering the country.
Zodwa was booked to perform at the Winter Amapiano Vibes on 10 June. The event will be taking place at the Dominics Hotel in Blantyre.
When she was banned from performing, Zodwa said she would still be attending the event. However, the Malawian Government has since issued strict instructions to deny the South African dancer access into the country in any capacity.
Malawi’s Secretary of Tourism, Culture and Wildlife wrote to the country’s Homeland Security department, expressing concerns regarding her controversial stage acts.
Zodwa Wabantu is known for her sexually suggestive dances, nudity and even allowing men to touch her during performances.
Her permit for performing was denied by the Censorship and Control of Entertainment Act.
“In the processing of the application, board had to review the pictures and videos clips that are in circulation depicting Zodwa Wabanatu on stage. The ministry has noted that Zodwa has built her career and fame around morally degrading stage acts which include flaunting her nudity to audiences.”
