Grammy award-winning artist Zakes Bantwini is triggered by AKA’s violent death after his own dad was murdered in a similar fashion last month.
The Osama hitmaker has been mourning his father, Sihlangusihle Jeffery Khanyile who was 65-years old.
Khanyile was tragically shot four times in the head, and the trauma has resurfaced for Zakes after Kiernan “AKA” Forbes was shot execution-style in Durban on Friday, 10 February.
Speaking to Drum, Zakes shared that he is taking a break from gigs for the next month because he’s dealing with a rollercoaster of emotions, and living in fear.
“I won’t be doing gigs for the next month because I’m paranoid. We’re all fearful, when you have fear, you have to think twice about doing a gig, about posting your show on your Instagram stories.”

Zakes who is set to play at the biggest Electro-Dance Music Festival in the country next month reflected on the crime in the country.
“Nobody is supposed to die especially through somebody else’s will. We live in such trying times and it makes you worry because no one is ever brought to book when such things happen.”
Zakes was announced as one of the support acts at Ultra South Africa on the 10th and 11 March in Cape Town and Johannesburg respectively.
