Remembering Zahara on her birthday.
On November 9th, 2024, South Africa remembered the late singer-songwriter Zahara, real name Bulelwa Mkutukana on her 37th birthday. Zahara, who passed away in December 2023 due to liver complications, continues to be remembered fondly by fans and colleagues.
Actress Lusanda Mbane paid tribute to Zahara on social media, sharing, “Happy heavenly birthday Masithathu wam 😇🎁🎸. You are forever loved and missed.”
Actor Aaron Moloisi also expressed his condolences, saying, “I will always love you Masthathu. Happy heavenly birthday.”
Fellow musician Vusi Nova shared a live performance of Zahara’s music, writing, “Ya ne. I feel so blessed to have been loved by you. Happy heavenly birthday sthandwa sam.”
Zahara was a renowned South African singer-songwriter and guitarist known for her soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics that captivated audiences the world over.
Her breakthrough came with her debut album, “Loliwe,” released in 2011. The album achieved massive success, selling over 100,000 copies within a short period, and propelled her to stardom.
Her unique blend of Afro-soul and folk music, combined with her powerful vocals, resonated with listeners and established her as a major force in the South African music industry.
Zahara has received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career, including multiple South African Music Awards (SAMAs).
