International acclaimed actress Thuso Mbedu has appeared on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.
When introducing Thuso, Trevor Noah eagerly points out that they’re both South African.
“I’m excited to have you here. This is so amazing. South African, South African,” Trevor adds, pointing to Thuso and then to himself.
During the interview Trevor goes on to commend Thuso for the extensive training she put herself through for the film, The Woman King.
When asked about how she selects her roles, Thuso notes that she actively resists roles that would have her character crying.
“I am [now] actively resisting roles that I as the character would have torch”.
Thuso continues: “I choose projects that feel would have some sort of impact. We’re not following the money, we’re following purpose”.
In addition to this Thuso notes that she studied drama in High School and University for social change.
“I studied drama in High School and University because I wanted to use acting as a tool for social change.
Thuso also opened up about her new production deal with Paramount+.
“[With this deal], more than anything I want to tell the stories that are innately in us”.
