King Misuzulu’s decision to take Myeni as his third wife has been called a “progressive move” as the third Queen has three children from a previous relationship.
Sizwe Dhlomo discussed King Misuzulu’s nuptials on Siz the World, highlighting that in the history of the AmaZulu Royal family, no King of the Zulu Kingdom has ever been a stepfather before.
The matter of King Misuzulu’s ascension to the throne is still being contested after the Pretoria High Court has ruled that President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recognition of Misuzulu kaZwelithini as the AmaZulu King is unlawful and invalid.
Twenty-three applicants put forward two review applications to the court to one, determine whether the incumbent king, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini was appointed king in terms of Zulu custom, and two, whether the President correctly recognised the present king in terms of the Traditional and Khoi-San Leadership Act, 2019.
