Amapiano has become the fastest-growing music genre in recent years.
The South African House and Kwaito music sub-genre has captivated South Africans ever since it got introduced to the mainstream and now the rest of the world has caught on. Hence there are phrases such as “Amapiano to the world.”
In January this year, a new dance challenge associated with Amapiano, Umlando, took the country by storm with everyone from adults, high school children, and even toddlers taking part in the challenge.
Since then we’ve seen the dance being incorporated into various dance routines.
This week we saw popular British rapper Stefflon Don take on the Umlando challenge. She shared the video on her social media which was well received by her followers.
Stefflon Don rose to stardom in 2017 following the release of her single Hurtin Me which features French Montana. The single peaked at number 7 on the UK singles chart.
