After weeks of gruelling competition, the winner of Idols SA season 18 has officially been announced!
During the extravagant live finale on Sunday, 29-year-old SAPS warrant officer Thapelo Molomo was crowned as the winner for Idols SA season 18.
After his name was called out, Thapelo kneeled and prayed on stage.
Thapelo then performed his debut solo single on stage titled Phanda.
As the winner of Idols SA S18, Thapelo will receive recording contract with Kalawa Jazmee Records. In addition to this, he will also walk away with an impressive prize package, over R1 million cash.
The prize package is made up of R350 000 in a Standard Bank MyMo account, R300 000 from Spotify, R350 000 from Mzansi Magic, access to a Standard Bank wealth manager, a Toyota Starlet, a fashion voucher from Truworths and his live show outfits, all to the value of R100000 and R85000 worth of musical equipment from Yamaha.

“Thank you so much to everyone who has voted for me”, Thapelo expressed in a video shortly after he was crowned the winner.
Minister of Police Bheki Cele attended the finale and congratulated Thapelo on his win.
“The member serves as a beacon of hope for many police officers who are on a daily basis faced with psychosocial challenges. He has illustrated to thousands of officers that hard work, determination and perseverance is the foundation of any successful human being”, Bheki Cele said.
