Water hitmaker, Tyla has friendzoned Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter Rema, squashing rumours that the two are dating.
In a recent interview with Apple Music, the South African singer was asked who she’d most want to take her to prom, and her unhesitated answer was the Calm Down artist.
However, Tyla said that there was no romantic feelings between them, despite pictures of the duo holding hands in Los Angeles, USA, sending paparazzi into a frenzy last year.
“Ya, that was dramatic. After that situation I realized, ai, Hollywood vibes, like you can’t trust everything that you see.
Because that just looked like a scandal, even I started believing. I was hey, what’s happening over here? But, no. We’re just friends.”

While Rema may have lost out on dating Tyla the Nigerian artist scored twice at the Trace Awards in Rwanda on Saturday, 21 October.
Rema won in the Global African Artist, and Song of the Year categories for his universal hit track, Calm Down.
In September, Rema and Selena Gomez won best Afrobeats song for thir global hit collaboration on “Calm Down” at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.
