Tumi Morake opens up about cheating in her marriage.
Outspoken comedienne Tumi Morake joined Podcast and Chill with Mac G for a sitdown.
Morake, who’s currently based in the US said she and her husband are in a good place right now, however, they’ve had their fair share of challenges.
“We come from a space where we had to deal with infidelity in our marriage,” she told MacG.
This happened at a difficult time in their union.
“I knew about it but I kept quiet for a long time. He had suffered a massive loss and I had suffered a massive loss. I was at ‘my biggest weight of my life’. It’s probably part of the reason I kept quiet when I first found out.”
Morake notes that there wasn’t any malice intended on her husband’s part as he is ” the nicest person on earth.”
She also doesn’t blame herself for this and hopes “women out there know that when he is cheating it is not about you.”
Amid this, the comedienne says she “found someone who looked at me differently, spoke to me differently and unfortunately.”
One thing led to another and “lines were crossed.”
Answering Mac G’s question about how they overcame the infidelity Tumi said it’s a “process you work through it every day.”
Morake also opened up about being a victim of rape in her teenage years. This happened when she attended a Fresher’s Party with a group of friends and the guy, whom she had a crush on invited her to his room.
“So we are making out and it was exciting for me. And he is older and nobody in high school notices me and look at this Varsity guy he sees me as a sex bomb.”
“Now he starts coming on strong but I was fine. He forced and raped me. Obviously, I couldn’t scream at the time because I was in shock. There was a time I pushed him off and then I ran to the door and he ran to the door and locked it.
She told one of her teachers about it who recommended therapy. “Speaking about it helped her eventually make peace with what had happened,” said Tumi Morake.
