A TikToker has been bashed for leaving his waiter a cheap R5 tip at the end of his meal.
In a video that has since been removed from his profile, @Qiqqa16 shared that his waiter declined his measly tip after bringing him a bill for R475.
The TikToker who was at dinner with a plus one at a restaurant on the V&A Waterfront, didn’t find anything wrong by offering his waiter the R5 tip.
“What happened is that we’re out, and we ordered and then the bill came, afterwards the person that I’m with said ‘I’m not going to be able to tip this guy,’ so what happened is that I said, okay something is better than nothing, so I gave the tip of a R5.
Tell me if I’m wrong or I’m unfair, so I gave the tip of R5 and we were supposed to write on the slip how much is the total, so the total was R480. The waiter counted how much is the total of the bill and then after that, he gave my R5 back and said thank you and goodbye.”
While the video was taken off his profile, it was shared by several disgruntled social media users who were outraged by the cheap R5 tip.
Usually a 10% tip is accepted, while you are not obliged to tip if you are not happy with the service.
However, some establishments include a 10% tip into their bill to avoid situations like these which leaves waiting staff with nothing at the end of their shift.
Social media users didn’t hold back on their opinions of the TikToker, who has been fielding comments since the video blew up.
Their restaurant Bill was a total of R400 & tipped waiter with R5 .He rejected it & they wanna know if u were them how would u feel about the rejection?
