Television producer and co-founder of Bomb Productions (Yizo Yizo, Shaka iLembe), Teboho Moseling Mahlatsi, passed away on Monday, July 3.
Mahlatsi’s family confirmed his passing in a statement shared with the media. Thembi Seete, who worked closely with Mahlatsi, took to social media to open up about how the producer’s passing affected her. “This one cuts deep. Teboho’s passing saddens me. Ho, bohloko,” she said.
Seete recalls being inspired after seeing Mahlatsi’s work for the first time.
“I was amazed and wanted to find out who created Yizo Yizo. Before then, I had never had an interest in finding out who was behind a production, and it took a series such as Yizo Yizo to ignite my interest in finding out about the teams behind a show. Tebogo happened to be one of the first I came across.
“To cut a long story short, I never thought I’d be selected to be part of the show. The story mainly focused on the school’s challenges. I remember the moment we met. I walked up to him and told him I wanted to be part of the Yizo Yizo. Even if he could show my shoulder or me just passing, it was okay.
“I want to be part of something great. I auditioned and got one of the leading roles, and more followed; after that, that’s how I joined the Bomb Shelter Family. Tebogo, Desiree, and Angus gave me a chance, and that one door opened many doors.”
