Polygamist actress Kwanele Mthethwa reflects on the overwhelming love she’s received since the series premiered

South African actress Kwanele Mthethwa, who has captured hearts across the globe with her portrayal of Matipa Nkosi, has expressed gratitude for the overwhelming love and support she has received from fans.
Her heartfelt message comes just days after the premiere of Netflix’s most talked-about series, The Polygamist.
The series, based on author Sue Nyathi’s book of the same name, has not only had South Africans talking but has also sparked conversations around the world, including from Acrimony actress Taraji P. Henson.

The Polygamist is a modern-day drama that explores how adultery, betrayal and power continue to affect many Black families.
The series also touches on themes of broken families, poverty, power, and the world of blessers and blessees in South Africa.
The story follows Gomora, a self-made CEO and banker whose carefully curated empire begins to unravel as his wife Joyce Gomora (Gugu Gumede), secret second wife Essie (Celeste Ntuli), mistress Matipa (Kwanele Mthethwa), and girlfriend Lindani (Luyanda Zwane) battle for his life, love, and wealth.
