“Thank you for life dear God,” those were the words of actress Connie Chiume who is celebrating another year around the sun.
Connie Chiume, one of South Africa’s most decorated thespians, turned 71 on Monday. The actress, who has had a five-decade career in film and television, celebrated the milestone by amassing 300,000 followers on her Instagram account.
Chiume is best known for her roles in popular South African television dramas, including Zone 14, Rhythm City, and Gomora. She has also appeared in several international films, including Black Panther and Black Is King.
Chiume has always advocated for the fair treatment of actors in South Africa. She also believes in passing down knowledge to the next generation.
Earlier this year she revealed that she will be hosting acting workshops around the country.
The Eastern Cape, North West, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and Free State will all host Chiume’s seminars.
“The Business Of Acting Workshops are back and could be visiting your province this year!!! The Workshop is aimed at empowering budding Arts Practitioners and supplying them with tools to unleash their best,” said Chiume.
“The post also indicated that the workshop is absolutely free, the was also information about how artist can take part in the workshop.”
