Thabang Moleya, Director of the hit TV series, Redemption and Gomora has opened about his struggles with alcohol addiction and what it took to overcome it.
Now 10-years sober, Thabang shared his journey to sobriety with Maps Maponyane on Mzansi Icons.
Not only did the highly credited directed have imposter syndrome during his lowest point but he felt like there was always someone waiting for him to slip up and make a mistake.
The Tembisa born-director who won a Golden Horn Award for Best Achievement in Directing – Telenovela, says it was his faith and prayer that helped him overcome his addiction.

Thabang Moleya was also involved in a near-fatal car accident, and he was terrified he was not going to survive it.
He shares with Maps how his heart had literally stopped, but here he is, telling his tale, looking back at how he survived everything that was meant to break him.
His story is inspirational, as Thabang’s Gomora is one of the most popular telenovela’s on DStv with more than 1 million viewers last month.
