Colombian singer Shakira and Spanish footballer Gerard Pique have reportedly separated following cheating revelations.
The Barcelona centre-back was allegedly unfaithful to the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer and was forced out of their family home.
Shakira and Gerard Pique met in 2010, at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. They have two sons, Milan and Sasha but were never married.
Pique spoke out about the reason he never asked Shakira to marry him on more than one occasion. The most notable interview being with former Manchester United teammate and former footballer Gary Neville.
In the interview, Pique said, “I like how we are, we function as a couple, there’s no need to get married.”
Shakira moved to Barcelona to start a family with the La Liga player almost immediately after the world cup.
Now reports suggest that Shakira has called for a separation, with Pique moving to a bachelor apartment.
A source has told Spanish media that there would be a statement released by the couple soon. Whether the statement will deny the cheating allegations or to announce their split is yet to be seen.
However, the source shared that Shakira is said to be devastated at the betrayal and has expressed this is her latest hit, Te Felicito which was released in April.
In the track, alongside Rauw Alejandro, she sings, “”To complete you I broke into pieces; I was warned, but I didn’t listen; I realised that yours is false; it was the drop that overflowed the glass; Don’t tell me you’re sorry, that sounds sincere, but I know you well and I know you’re lying.”
Shakira is 10-years older than Pique and the two have always been supportive of their equally demanding careers.
Over the years, both Shak and Pique have shared messages of support to the other on their social media.
