Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter Rema has pulled out of the Hey Neighbour Music Festival set to happen in Johannesburg next weekend due to health reasons.
The Calm Down hitmaker was one of the headline acts at the 3-day music festival taking place from 08 to 10 December.
Rema took to his social media to inform his fans that he’s heartbroken at having to cancel all performances for December and prioritize his health.
“Breaks my heart to say that I won’t be performing anywhere this December. Been years of touring, I’ve ignored my health and I need time to recuperate.
2024 we go again. Love.”

In a statement, Hey Neighbour organizers wished Rema well on his recovery and announced that a few other artists will also be missing the festival due to unforeseen circumstances.
Apart from Rema pulling out, Duckwrth is currently dealing with Vertigo, while JZYNO can no longer perform due to unforeseen circumstances.
The festival team received news from Rema’s management team this week.
Warren Le Grange, Hey Neighbour Festival Director expressed understanding for fans’ disappointment and apologized for any inconvenience.
