Pearl Thusi has come under heavy scrutiny in recent days after making a few public appearances in see-through tops that showed off her bazooms.
Speaking to Metro FM about the inspiration behind her dress code, the actress said that it was inspired by Janelle Monae, who recently did a topless cover with Rolling Stone Magazine. Because of the uproar on social media, Pearl decided to stick with the look.
“And when everybody tried to tell me what I can and cannot do, that’s when I did it again. I was making it very clear that this is my body,” she said.
Pearl believes people generally have an issue with her, and South Africans think they have a say in the lives of South African celebrities.
“South African Twitter people think that because they have access to local celebrities, they are equal to South African celebrities. Rihanna and Beyonce can do something that apparently Pearl is not allowed to do,” said the actress. “There is a big middle finger I have for that.”
