Pam Andrews speaks about group therapy and why she left acting.
South African actress Pam Andrews who is well known for her roles on shows such as Rhythm City, Tshisa, and Triomf has explained her decision to give up acting.
In a recent video on Tik Tok Andrews spoke openly about going through therapy for anxiety, sadness, and a severe case of PTSD brought on by childhood trauma.
Andrews who rose to fame when she entered a reality TV singing competition Coca-Cola Popstars in 2001 hasn’t been on TV since her time on e.TV’s Rhythm City.
According to Andrews, she attempted to resume her acting career, however, she valued her mental health more, and she was appreciative of her son’s and her therapist’s assistance.
“I started going to group therapy because I’ve got stuff going on with me, some trauma that happened that disrupts my life and I’ve had to give up so many things because of it. For example, the hardest thing I had to give up was being an actress, though I’ve tried many times to get into that space again. As soon as I try I completely struggle with my hormones, emotionally, I stress out so much my whole body … I just start panicking and my depression and anxiety go all crazy.”
