Diep City actress Nozuko Ntshangase has always been open about her mental health struggles. She delves deeper into “not feeling good enough” despite her success in a new YouTube video.
As part of her healing process, she’s been watching some videos to try and find where her insecurities stem from.
“And as I was trying to heal myself searching for videos that can give me light. I came across a video on shadow work.
“I’ve been trying to do shadow work for some time and I hadn’t really gone deep in understanding what is shadow work and how can I best use it,” she shares.
One of the exercises she came across is childhood trauma review. “Part of your shadow self is made up of your childhood trauma. Part of it is patterns and mindset that were developed from when you were a kid.”
She shares that as a child she “doesn’t remember feeling good about herself, being happy or fulfilled.”
However, this does not mean that she was abused or not loved as a child.
“But we have to understand that I was raised by a parent that had her own trauma that she took from her mother. I’ve carried on these childhood patterns into my adulthood,” she explains.
Because she’s a result of teenage pregnancy, she’s always felt that she’s a disappointment to her family.
“I’m a result of teenage pregnancy and it’s not that I was not accepted but for me, because of the stories that I hear on the daily, that I was not accepted because I was my mom’s reason for her heart break because my dad decided to leave after she felt pregnant.
“I felt that I was my grandmother’s disappointment because my mom had to quit school after she fell pregnant.”
