Minnie Dlamini has finally opened up about her divorce from Quinton Jones.
The 32-year old television presenter shared in a recent radio interview that raising her child in separate homes was never how she envisioned her life.
Minnie announced in February last year that she and her former football star husband of 4-years were splitting, sparking rumours of infidelity on her part during their marriage.
Rumours the businesswoman and actress has squashed, including that she had an affair with Edwin Sodi.
Opening up about her divorce to Quinton Jones, Minnie said her fairytale marriage was over long before she made the announcement public.
Minnie said while she always wanted to raise her children how she was raised, she reached a point in her marriage where she no longer knew who she was.
Not only did the media personality lose herself, she shared that despite efforts made to work on their union, their marriage was never going to work.
“People need to understand that when a marriage ends, it doesn’t end at the announcement or the day before the announcement, it ends long before that.
By the time I announced, I had gone through a lot of processes already.
At the time of the announcement, it felt like a really big relief and a weight off my shoulders.
I never imagined getting divorced. I always thought that I would raise my kids how I was raised. I just felt like for me, timing was off, I felt like I didn’t know myself. Furthermore, I went onto lose myself in my marriage.”
Minnie hinted that narcissism played a role in her marriage falling apart in a recent Instagram story.
The mother of one also touched on how tough it’s been living life online and reading all the hurtful things people say about her, most of which is untrue.
“When people over-sensationalize, over-dramatize, create lies about you, it’s one of the most painful things. Because I can’t shout from the rooftops to everyone and explain my truth.
At the end of the day, I also feel as though I don’t need to. As long as my close family and friends know what the truth is behind what is going on, those are the relationships and the people I feel I owe an explanation to.
Everyone else will just figure it out when they figure it out.”
