Mzansi Magic has announced a new show, Thinah singoZungu which offers an exclusive glimpse into the lives of the Zungu family. This dynamic family navigates the challenges of balancing faith, fame, and fortune, all under the intense scrutiny of the Christian community. While held to higher moral standards, they are simply striving to raise their children and pursue their dreams.
Set against the picturesque backdrops of iTheku (Durban), eNanda, and Umhlanga, Thinah singoZungu showcases the family’s contrasting worlds, spanning township pride to suburban luxury.
At the centre of the show is Thinah Zungu, a pastor with deeply rooted Christian values who unapologetically embraces a flashy lifestyle, which some may deem contradictory. From humble beginnings in a shack to a life of luxury in a mansion, Thinah believes he has earned his opulent lifestyle, complete with designer wardrobes and a high-profile social circle. However, with wealth and fame comes criticism, and Thinah remains unafraid to challenge societal norms.
Behind the scenes is Thinah’s wife, Zama (also known as uMaMtshali or “Landlord”), who is stepping into her role as a pastor while fiercely protecting her family. A true lioness, she ensures her household remains grounded while raising their three children — Ndumiso, Smanga, and Olwethu. Each child embarks on their own journey of self-discovery. Ndumiso, the eldest, has taken on the responsibility of being the family breadwinner, a burden his younger siblings often struggle to understand as they forge their own identities beyond their parents’ religious expectations.
The reality show explores universal themes of family versus fame, humility versus success, and the price of chasing dreams. It unveils the Zungu family’s journey, where every step towards greatness comes with its own cost.
