American boxing icon Floyd Mayweather is reportedly suing the Durban tournament’s promoter for breach of contract.
The event had already been moved from Sunday to Tuesday.
Posters for the tournament included images of Mayweather and Zulu King Misuzulu, indicating that both will attend the event at Moses Mabhida Stadium and even implying that the retired boxing legend would show up.
They failed to pay Mayweather his appearance in advance, they used his image to promote the boxing event without permission and there was no permission from the King. The organizers have been instructed to take down this poster with immediate effect.

However, the promoter said on Saturday that there would be a two-day delay and a change of site to an unannounced location due to security concerns over the king.

TimesLive reports that Arnold Nododile, CEO of the promotional company J4Joy, was accused in a letter dated December 9 from Johannesburg by attorney David Feinberg of not paying Mayweather what he had promised and dodging their attempts to contact him.
“You have breached the agreement in a number of respects, most notably by failing to pay our client the agreed fee for his attendance at the event, which was due, owing and payable to our client over a month ago,” wrote the lawyer, representing Mayweather’s company, The Money Team (TMT).
“In addition to this, you have, without our client’s authorisation, utilised our client’s name, image and likeness to promote the event … We attach an image which falsely insinuates that our client will be boxing at the event, in circumstances where this image was not approved in terms of the agreement …
“Incidentally, our client has been informed that you did not obtain the permission from King Misuzulu to use his name or image either.”
