One of South Africa’s most talked-about reality shows is making a comeback.
Mzansi Magic has announced that Married at First Sight Mzansi will return for a third season, premiering on Sunday, 5 July 2026.
The new season will launch with a special 90-minute episode at 5:30 PM before returning to its regular weekly timeslot of 6 PM.
Season 3 will feature four couples, who will be revealed in due course.
Returning to the panel are relationship expert Thabang Mashigo, relationship coach and officiator Pastor Xolani Hiltana, intimacy expert Dr Mpume Zenda and marriage and family counsellor Bakhe Dlamini, who returns after first appearing in Season 1.
Married at First Sight Mzansi is a local adaptation of the globally successful franchise.
The series follows a group of singles who agree to marry partners selected for them by a panel of relationship experts. The catch? They meet for the very first time on their wedding day.
“The couples take a leap of faith in the hope of finding lasting love with a complete stranger,” Mzansi Magic said in a statement.
Viewers can expect plenty of emotional moments, personal growth and unexpected twists as the relationships unfold.
Why Thabang Mashigo believes in matchmaking

Mashigo, one of South Africa’s most-loved relationship experts, said returning to the show was an easy decision because she believes in love and the concept of matchmaking.
She added that successful relationships are built on more than chemistry and attraction. They require couples who are willing to learn, compromise and choose consistency over excitement.
“A strong match is assessed on the basis of willingness. It’s the willingness to choose consistency over chemistry, reliability over romance and someone who will show up for you rather than simply providing the sparkles,” she said.
Expect surprises this season
Mashigo revealed that Season 3 will include a few unexpected success stories.
She said some couples surprised the experts by overcoming challenges and choosing to work through difficult moments together.
The season will also explore changing ideas around marriage, masculinity and femininity in modern South Africa, offering viewers a closer look at what relationships look like today.
According to Mashigo, that is what makes the show worth watching.
“Being matched with a potentially compatible partner is only the beginning. Long-term success depends on emotional intelligence, timing, self-awareness and the ability to build trust after the match is made,” she said.
If previous seasons are anything to go by, Married at First Sight Mzansi will be filled with drama, emotional highs and lows, and plenty of conversation-worthy moments.
