Last month, amidst the controversies surrounding her possible involvement in the father of her child, Senzo Meyiwa’s murder trial. Kelly Khumalo was spotted shopping at Sandton City with bodyguards.
This raised questions about Kelly’s safety.
Speaking in the latest episode of her reality show Life with Kelly, the musician revealed that safety has been an issue for her since the tragic passing of Senzo Meyiwa.
“Security has been important to me since 2014. How Thingo’s father was murdered is still a mystery to me.”
Kelly adds that she’s received a couple of death threats.
“My last gig in KZN, I received a threat two days before that they were going to kill me.”
This explains why she was sighted with bodyguards.
“I have my CPO, a close private officer – they are officers of the law, just private ones. So they can arrest you.”
Kelly is going to therapy again
During a session with her family therapist, Kelly opens up about her broken relationship with her sister Zandi.
“My reason for being here is to vent. And also get a different perspective of things,” she told her therapist.
Kelly says she’s “willing to open that door of forgiveness.” However, her biggest concern is what she is opening herself up to.
“I have fear of history repeating itself. My grandfather was murdered by his brothers.
“There were always fights and divisions between the children. This now is happening to me and my sister,” she adds.
Their mother intervened and arranged for them to reconcile.
“I should be able to meet my godson,” said Kelly.
