South African actor Hlomla Dandala has spoken out about the toxic cancel culture which he says killed Patrick Shai.
Shai allegedly committed suicide at his house in Dobsonville, Soweto on Saturday.
Taking to his Instagram, Hlomla shared a message to all the people who called for Shai to be cancelled.
“All those people who came for him for likes, I hope you’re happy now,” Hlomla Dandala shared.
The veteran actor’s body was discovered by his wife, who found Shai hanging from the garage.
Shai got into an online war with Cassper Nyovest and took it too far by hurling an insult at the rapper’s mother.
South Africans were not impressed and after coming under fire on social media, Shai issued an apology which seemingly fell on deaf ears.
Many called for Patrick Shai to be cancelled and ridiculed the actor for his threats of violence against Cassper.
Shai was best known for his roles in Generations, Soul City and Zone 14.
His most recent role was in the series, The River.
