South African actress Gabisile Tshabalala has joined the cast of the popular SABC drama Muvhango. Making her on-screen debut on Tuesday, 21 January 2025, Gabisile will portray Bubbles Mosipidi, a receptionist at Hanyani Holdings.
Speaking about her new role, Gabisile shared her excitement: “I’ve joined a warm family that filled my heart in a way I didn’t know I needed. It feels like I’m working with a team that truly loves each other. I’ve never been part of a production that invests in actor workshops and team-building for both cast and crew.”
Reflecting on her experience replacing an existing character, she added, “That kind of transition can be tricky, but I felt at home right away. What Bab Duma Ndlovu is doing is commendable.”
Joining her on the show is actor Nicholas Nkuna, also known as NickSoul, who will debut as Khalema Semenya, a street-smart and enigmatic character with a complicated past and questionable loyalties. His character, the cousin of Dr. Ximba and uncle to Sakhile, brings hidden tensions rooted in his mysterious discharge from the army.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Nkuna described Khalema as bold and unpredictable: “I’m thrilled to play a character so unapologetically himself. He’s fearless, shocking, and demands attention with every move. This role is a challenge I’m excited to embrace—it’s about taking risks and telling unforgettable stories.”
Nkuna also celebrated the opportunity to act in Swati, a language rarely heard on South African television. “It’s a meaningful moment to represent young kids who can now see their heritage and identity reflected in these stories,” he said.
