On the 1-year anniversary of his passing, Riky Rick’s life will be celebrated at an event in Newtown, Johannesburg on 23 February.
The Cotton Fest team invited all fans of the late rapper to come together and remember the life of Riky Rick.
“Cotton Eaters, let’s get together to remember the life of Riky Rick on Thursday, 23 February at Newtown Junction – 100 Carr Street, Newtown 🕊️
WE NEVER DIE, WE MULTIPLY!”
Riky Rick’s 1-year anniversary event will take place from 15h00 – 17h00.
Riky Rick was one of the founders of Cotton Fest and the team have made it their ambition to continue the Boss Zonke hitmaker’s dreams.
Rikhado Muziwendlovu Makhado, better known as Riky Rick died last year on 23 February by suicide.
The businessman and award-winning music producer lost his battle to depression.
“You need to be strong to be in this industry because you’ll experience so much pain. More pain than you came in with. This industry is going to amplify that pain.”

Before his untimely passing, Riky Rick spoke out about the isolating and dark SA music industry.
Despite all his accomplishments as a fashion designer, founder and owner of Cotton Club Records, and multiple hits, Riky Rick struggled with depression for a long time.
