Legendary actor Bruce Willis will be retiring from acting due to his Aphasia diagnosis, his family shared on Wednesday.
According to the National Aphasia Association, Aphasia is a brain disorder that is caused by injury to the brain, most commonly by stroke, head trauma, brain tumors, and infections.
Aphasia impacts an individual’s cognitive abilities, affecting one’s speech, reading, and writing.
The Die Hard actor’s daughter, Rumer Willis announced on her Instagram that her father will be “stepping away from a career that has meant so much to him” due to his diagnosis with Aphasia.
“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family, we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him”.
In the post, Rumer noted that although this may be a challenging time for her family, they are appreciative of the support, love and compassion they have been receiving.
“This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him”.
