Showmax has just released the trailer for Red Ink, which is based on Angela Makholwa-Moabelo’s bestselling debut novel. This eight-part thriller follows the story of Lucy Khambule, a journalist turned publicist, who is approached by a notorious serial killer seeking to share his story.
In the series, Nqobile Nunu Khumalo, a SAFTA nominee known for her roles in Nqobile and The Herd, portrays Lucy. Joining her is Bonko Khoza, a SAFTA winner for his performance as Mqhele in The Wife, who takes on the role of Napoleon Dingiswayo, also known as the Butcher in the media.
Red Ink is a collaboration between Makholwa-Moabelo’s Britespark Films and Bomb Productions. The series is directed by SAFTA winners Zeno Petersen and Adze Ugah, who were also part of the directing team for Shaka ILembe.
Red Ink reunites Khoza with two of his co-stars from The Wife, Kwenzo Ngcobo (Qhawe) and Abdul Khoza (Nqoba). The talented cast also includes Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku, who gained recognition for her role in Showmax’s hit series Outlaws, as well as SAFTA winners Bongile Mantsai, Jo-Anne Reyneke, and Lorcia Cooper Kumalo.
