Mnet announced recently that the long-running music show Idols SA would be coming to an end after 21 years on our screens.
The music show was renewed for a 19th season which will be its last.
Award-winning rapper AKA was one of the many South Africans disappointed to hear the news.
The Lemonade hitmaker revealed that it was a life-long dream of his to be a judge on Idols SA.
“I should have been a judge on @IdolsSA *sigh* … I always wanted that.”
On a positive note, at least AKA’s friend Jr Bogopa got to be an Idols SA judge. The two have also collaborated on hits such as All Eyez On Me and Congratulate.
Bogopa joined season 18 alongside actress/musician Thembi Seete and Somizi who re-joined after leaving in 2021.
According to a statement shared by M-Net, Jr’s wealth of experience “provides contestants with the knowledge that goes beyond performing.”
