Four Weddings and a Funeral, follows Charles, a young introvert, and his group of friends who seem to be unlucky in love. When Charles meets a striking American woman named Carrie at a wedding, he believes his luck might have changed. After one beautiful night, Carrie returns home, ending what might have been. As they continue to cross paths, Charles starts to believe that they might be meant for each other.
The movie stars Hugh Grant and Andie McDowell.
A poverty-stricken yet passionate man falls in love with a rich young woman, giving her a taste of freedom, however, they are soon separated because of their social differences.
The film stars Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, as a young couple in the 1940s. The story is read from a notebook in modern times by an elderly man, who tells the tale to a fellow nursing home resident.
The film centers on a young black couple, Daniel Kaluuya and Joodie Turner-Smith, who go on date and find themselves on the run after killing a white police officer in self-defense.
Adam White from Independent describes Independent UK describes Queen & Slim as, “simultaneously beautiful and troubling.”
Set in 1962 Baltimore, Maryland, The Shape of Water follows Elisa, a cleaner, at a high-security lab who falls in love with a mysterious creature held captive. It stars Sally Hawkins as Elisa, Doug Jones as ‘The Amphibian Man,’ and Octavia Spenser as Zelda Fuller.
The film received critical acclaim and got nominated 13 times at the 90th Academy Awards, the most of any movie in 2018.
The Half of It follows a smart and broke teen, Ellie Chu, who agrees to write a love letter for a jock, she doesn’t expect to become close friends with, or fall for his crush.
The film starring Leah Lewis, Alexxis Lemire, and Daniel Diemer, was released on Netflix in 2020.
