Veteran South African actress Leleti Khumalo has issued a public warning after her name and image were falsely linked to an online scam promoting a medical drug.
In a statement released by her team, Khumalo made it clear that she has no connection to the product or the advertisements currently circulating on social media.
“We have received several screenshots and reports regarding this matter, and we wish to state clearly: this is a scam,” the statement read. “Leleti Khumalo is in no way, shape, or form associated with any medical endorsements, brand deals, or campaigns of this nature. Any such claims are fraudulent and unauthorized.”
The posts are said to be using Khumalo’s image without her consent. Her team has urged the public not to click on, share, or engage with the links.
Khumalo’s representatives further confirmed that they are working with the relevant authorities to deal with the matter, adding that protecting both her reputation and the public from fraudulent activity remains their top priority.
