South African broadcaster Penny Lebyane has marked her son Takunda Tshegofatso Juda Naka’s 20th birthday with a moving post on social media.
Penny opened up about her journey as a mother, celebrating the young man her son has become.
“Today is the day the Lord said, yes, you can birth greatness,” she began.
Now two decades later, Penny speaks with gratitude and reverence.
“Twenty years later, I say Ebenezer – You have kept us this far. Lord, you have held me with this gift You’ve entrusted me with.”
Penny, never one to shy away from vulnerability, extended her thanks to those who’ve supported her and Takunda’s journey from day one.
She thanked her mother and father for modelling the kind of love she always wished to pass on to her children.
Her appreciation also extended to Takunda’s father, who she affectionately referred to as his hero. “It’s a tall ask, because he’s my son,” she wrote.
Penny also paid tribute to her spiritual anchors, including Apostle Linda Gobodo, her spiritual mother Aunty Gail Masondo, and Uncle Victor Masondo, describing them as pillars who held her and her son with faith and love.
She affectionately mentioned legendary singer Yvonne Chaka Chaka and Dr Tiny Mhinga as bonus grandparents, extending her gratitude to the wider “family.”
Penny ended her post with an outpouring of love for the friends, colleagues, and extended community who have embraced her son with open arms.
“It’s the little things you all do,” she wrote, tagging many by name.
