Ekurhuleni mayor Mzwandile Masina tests positive for COVID-19 after experiencing mild symptoms on Tuesday. The Office of the Executive Mayor issued a statement confirming that the mayor is positive and is currently at home in self-isolation.
The Mayor went for the COVID-19 test this Wednesday and upon learning his status all who have been in contact with him have been advised to isolate and test if necessary.

Mzwandile Masina has urged the public to continue to adhere to the Level 4 lockdown regulations and encouraged those 50 and over to not waste time in registering for the country’s vaccination programme.
The statement ended by saying the Mayor is in good spirits and is expected to make a speedy recovery. He will be on sick leave for the next 14 days and the mayor’s office will announce an acting mayor in due course.
