According to reports from various news outlets, more than 2000 EFF members and supporters were part of the march today.
Defying the president’s restrictions for gatherings to be limited to between 50 and 100 people maximum.
The Disaster Management Act stipulates that law enforcement officials are to order those who are gathering to disperse, failure to do so will result in arrest.
South Africans are calling out the EFF on social media for the “super-spreader event” which they find irresponsible:
EFF members are brain dead, how do you contravene Covid 19 regulations in the middle of 3rd wave. Just because Malema said so.#EffIsKillingSouthAfricans

Thousands of EFF cult members gathered in full defiance of Covid regulations. Gauteng is currently being devastated by the 3rd wave, the cult is just gonna increase it. Absolutely no sign of Bheki Cele as yet to arrest the leadership of the EFF cult. #EFFIsKillingSouthAfricans pic.twitter.com/arhM2PV8wn
