KZN’s first premier after democratic elections Dr Frank Mdlalose will be honoured with a state-funded official funeral.
Dr Mdlalose was born on 29 November 1931 in Nquthu, northern Natal and died on Saturday 4 April 2021 at the age of 89.
He succumbed to COVID-19 related complications.
Dr Mdlalose was in office from 11 May 1994 until 1 March 1997.
He has been described as a pillar of strength for his family and the community at large.
KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala led a delegation yesterday to his home in Newcastle, where they paid their respects.
The funeral of the former premier will take place this coming Thursday, 8 April 2021, in Newcastle.
IFP described Dr Mdlalose as an “outstanding servant of South Africa”.
