DJ Maphorisa has been opening doors for new artists for many years, and has done it yet again. Earlier in the year a video of a street musician performing at the Randburg Shopping Centre trended on social and caught the eye of multi-award winning self-proclaimed Scorpion King, DJ Maphorisa.

Phila Dlozi, a talented young musician, has been spotted across Johannesburg with his djembe drum, singing his heart out and impressing crowds. The performer’s life changed after receiving a call from the established DJ who has finally given him a platform to showcase his talent.

The video, which gave many Tweeps goosebumps, was shared in January and has been viewed over 200 000 times.

Making hits with a music maestro
Few days after the video was trending, Dj Maphorisa immediately posted a studio session with the talented street musician, posting on social media “I found @PhilaDlozi”, teasing his audience of an upcoming song. Dj Black Coffee also reacted positively to the video by the young musician, he express on his page that he had been wowed by his impromptu street performance.

Dj Maphorisa and Phila Dlozi haven’t officially released their creation but judging from the response from Tweeps it is sure going to be a smash hit.
