Confidence Period Panties changing the game for feminine hygiene

By: Natasha Archary

Feminine hygiene products can be expensive, bulky, uncomfortable and despite their best efforts, messy and environmentally problematic. Enter Confidence Period Panties, a leak-proof, reusable period panty for both young girls and women of all sizes.

Created by Danielle, a South African mom of 2 who was unprepared for her little girl’s introduction into womanhood, who grew tired of looking internationally for products that would give her daughter protection.

At 11, Danielle’s daughter had her first period and like many girls who start their menstruation cycle that early, tampons may not be easy to use and sanitary pads can leak. Realising there’s a gap in the market in South Africa with the same feminine hygiene products available, Danielle ordered period panties from an international company.

Not only was it an expensive process but all leaked and most did not look feminine. Danielle spent months designing and experimenting with new materials and fabrics, trying out different designs to offer women in South Africa a practical, affordable, comfortable and leak-proof solution and this is how Confidence Period Panties was born.

The soft lycra fabric is comfortable and there are no obvious panty lines when using the period panties.

Consisting of 4 waterproof layers, the period panties can hold up to 2 tampons worth of menstrual fluid. The panties are easy to clean and are 100% reusable.

Understanding the plight of young girls in the country who don’t have the means to purchase sanitary products and are forced to miss school when they menstruate, Danielle has a charity, The Forgotten Girls and donates reusable sanitary pads to girls in rural areas.
