Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page scooped the Standout Performance at this year’s GQ Men of the Year Awards. The British actor made a name for himself as the dark and brooding Duke of Hastings, in the Netflix 18th century regal series Bridgerton.
A performance that had women around the world swooning over the 31-year old star and his dashingly good looks.
Of his win at the GQ Men of the Year Awards, Regé-Jean Page said he “loved being able to portray a person of high status as a black man.”
Fans were disappointed that the actor will not be reprising his role as Simon Hastings in the series but spoke of his portrayal of the character who won the hearts of many with pride.
“All the sparks that flew off of the beautiful scripts that we were handed, and so I think that the sparky scripted material are more than enough.”
The actor attended the awards at the Tate Modern Museum confirming rumours that he is dating writer and athlete Emily Brown. Walking hand-in-hand into the glamourous star-studded event with Emily Regé-Jean Page looked dapper in a dark green, printed suit.
Regé-Jean Page also won the MTV Award for Breakthrough Performance earlier this year for his role in Bridgerton. Despite his role being such a key part of the series, the actor said he knew his part was always going to be just a “one season role”.
