The Human Being diet is the latest health fad that is catching on with weight conscious women throughout the world.
Described as a “way of life” by creator Petronella Ravenshear, the controversial diet requires users to survive on a mere 600 calories a day for two weeks.
Promising to restore metabolic balance, the diet also means going 2-days on nothing more than veggies.
Full details about the diet can be found in Petronella’s book, a 3-month programme which sets the foundation for a new way of eating and living.
Breaking down the Human Being diet
There are 4 phases to Petronella’s way of life:
Phase 1: Preparation. 2 days of vegetables only
Phase 2: Reset. 14 days of eating 3 meals a day, combining equal weights of one type of protein and a mixture of vegetables and eating 1 apple a day
Phase 3: Burn. 10 weeks of a continuation of phase 2, with the addition of olive oil and a weekly treat meal
Phase 4: Forever. A continuation of phase 3 and a discovery of which foods best suit us. Experimenting with extra treat meals but maintaining the HBD principles.
The diet is suitable for both men and women, except women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as it can be pretty hardcore.
The first 16 days are hardcore, being oil, alcohol, sugar and grain-free, and should be viewed as sacrosanct. They set the scene for the success of the programme and the metabolic reset it delivers.
There are 10 rules to follow, and all the instructions and explanations are found within the book, along with some recipes.
Petronella’s tips
Inspired by the body’s innate healing power, sometimes called the ‘wisdom of the body’, Petronella wanted to help people achieve their health and fitness goals. Her diet is said to improve skin conditions, with many leaving positive testimonials on her website.
Petronella shares her philosophy on food:
- Eat food as close to nature as possible.
- As a rule of thumb – if you can pick it or dig it up and eat it, eat it.
- If you have to process it in any way to make it edible, leave it.
- If you can hunt it or fish it, eat it.
- Food with shelf life has no life – avoid it.
- Of course there are exceptions to this, but very few.
