We’re 11 days away from the Absa #RunYourCity Joburg race day on 24 September, and training begins with Sizwe Dhlomo.
Encouraging avid runners, regardless of fitness level to dust off their trainers and join the 10K city run, Sizwe started a running club to prepare for the big day.
Siz and team run once a week before the sun rises, so it’s nice and cool, giving those participating a chance to improve their endurance and time.
The group consists of beginners, intermediate and expert runners but the aim of the run is to bring people together and make fitness fun.
With the first training run out of the way, Sizwe is confident that the group will only get stronger as the race approaches.
“We started off with a nice easy, 5km route around Rosebank and didn’t rush into anything hectic, like the route to Zoo Lake. We got off to a good start, had a good turn out, with one runner in the group running more than 5kms.”

The next training runs will take place on Wednesday, 14 September and Saturday, 17 September.
