21-year-old youth activist, public speaker and social entrepreneur Among Sinxoto has written her first children’s book called “my BIG name”.
“my BIG name” encourages young Black children about the importance of their names and conveys powerful messages about their existence and identities; and encourages young kids to understand that their names are more than just a moniker.
The book follows a young girl, Isenguye who comes to terms with understanding the power that her “BIG” name posseses.
In addition to this, Isenguye learns that she can access superpowers of self power and pride by recognising and embracing the name that was given to her a birth.
“I am an activist and the work that I do with Blackboard Africa is all about empowering the African child and encouraging them to embrace their identity to its fullest extent. This book is a continuation of that mission”, Among said in a statement shared on instagram.
