Bishop Stephen Bafana Zondo has been formally charged with sexual harassment and obstruction of justice.
The controversial bishop of the Rivers of Living Waters Ministries has been accused of exploiting some church members.
He is also accused of using his position as a church leader to solicit sex from female congregants.
The claims came to light during investigative hearings conducted last year by the CRL Rights Commission.
Zondo and senior pastor Lydia Malete lost a bid and an appeal in the South Gauteng High Court in December to interdict the commission from continuing with the hearings.
The church leader is set to appear before the Sebokeng Regional Court on May 28.
Bishop Zondo has denied the claims and welcomes the indictment served on him.
“This allegation has been hanging on his head for a long time, but funny enough he has not been charged. So, finally, he has been charged that’s why he said ‘I am happy’. Finally people will know the side of my story,” his legal representative Mr Jeffrey Rahlagane said.
