Death is an uncomfortable topic for most people, however, should you pass on today, does your family know what your final wishes are?
If you have not discussed this with your family yet, do you perhaps have something written to guide them? Chances are they have an idea on the kind of send-off they’d like to give you but is it what you want?
Here are important reasons why should make your last wishes known.
The coffin
Even parlors base the level of service they’ll be giving you based on the type of coffin you choose. Some would argue that one doesn’t need an expensive coffin as it is going into the soul either way.
The service
What type of service do you want at your funeral and how long should it be? Who will be speaking and do you want it to take place at a church?
The funeral
Where do you want to be buried after you pass on? Some people want to be cremated after they pass on so speaking about your funeral arrangements offers an opportunity to clear the air.
Write your obituary
If you want to control how the world will view you once you are no more, then you should write your own obituary.
Have a list of beneficiaries
In this list, you can include the names of people you want to inherit things that are of sentimental value to you, e.g your book collection. You can also use this to give explanations about your will if you feel that some people might need more clarity.
This morning on The Best T in the City, Tbose asked the Kaya 959 listeners if their family/loved ones know what their final wishes are? Keep up with the conversation on social under the hashtag #MyfinalWishes and listen to the full episode below.
