With millions of employees losing their jobs as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, it’s important that you have a long-term, secure career that can survive an economic crisis.
The following careers have been shown to be recession proof:
Doctors, Surgeons, Paramedics, Nurses, Pharmacists
These are professions that matter during a recession. While people usually have less resources and of course, delay medical services in order to minimize their costs, the task of taking care of people’s health, whatever the economic situation, is ongoing.
In general, IT staff including computer system analysts, network managers and database analysts, tend to be crucial in times of recession, as networks, databases and websites also need constant maintenance.
Sectors like education are generally not affected by the recession. Education careers have proved to be stable so teaching is always a good career option.
During the global recession triggered by COVID-19, prospects for e-commerce and food supply jobs have increased dramatically in several other occupations of the industry.
Professionals who help people cope in times of global crisis remain stable. Psychiatrists have had to adjust in the last year, whereby in-person appointments have been replaced by video or phone appointments. Despite this, the demand for psychiatrists remains strong.
Truth is, global warming and human error will not stop any time soon, which is why firefighters are still important even during a recession. In many cases, they are the greatest defence against the devastation of many communities that could be caused by ravaging fires.
Accountants, Auditors, Lawyers
Whether or not we are facing an economic crisis, individuals and businesses will continue to need to manage their finances and, more often than not, they will look for a team of experts to do so.
